I am a postdoctoral researcher at the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Basel, Switzerland. My main areas of research are renewable support policy design, market design for a decarbonized electricity sector, and electric mobility in Switzerland. I has also been involved in carrying out resource adequacy studies for the Swiss Federal Office of Energy.
Studying and doing research in both engineering and economics helped me appreciate the complementarities of these two worlds. For example, I supplemented my machine learning skills from engineering studies with statistical methods in economics (econometrics). Furthermore, I complemented my skills regarding technical simulation of electricity systems with analytical analysis to explain economic incentives of firms in the market. In addition, doing my PhD in energy economics in Switzerland allowed me to apply my numerical market simulation skills gained during my bachelor and master programs in electrical engineering to the case of Swiss and European electricity markets.
