I am a Ph.D. student at the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Basel, Switzerland. In addition, I am a researcher in the Research Center for Sustainable Energy and Water Management (Forschungsstelle für Nachhaltige Energie- und Wasserversorgung (FoNEW)) as well as the Competence Center for Research in Energy, Society and Transition – CREST.
Studying and doing research in both engineering and economics helped me appreciate the complementarities of these two worlds. For example, I supplemented my machine learning skills from engineering studies with statistical methods in economics (econometrics). Furthermore, I complemented my skills regarding technical simulation of electricity systems with analytical analysis to explain economic incentives of firms in the market. In addition, doing my PhD in energy economics in Switzerland allowed me to apply my numerical market simulation skills gained during my bachelor and master programs in electrical engineering to the case of Swiss and European electricity markets.Currently, as a last year PhD student, I am working on:
- Preferences of renewable investors and support policies (as a part of Competence Center for Research in Energy, Society and Transition – CREST)
- Electric mobility and its effects on Swiss grid (as a part of Joint Activity Mobility)
- System adequacy studies (for Bundesamt für Energie as part of Forschungsstelle für Nachhaltige Energie- und Wasserversorgung (FoNEW))
I am open for career opportunities in academia or energy consulting, preferably in a multidisciplinary environment.
